The Great State Meet Preview - Indoor 2017

Girls 300m

Event Info: 2016 Winner: Amanda Crawford (Paul Robeson) 38.81, State Record: 37.54, Meet Record: 38.23, State Qualifier Mark (FAT): 41.94

State of the Action: This could be one of the more intriguing events on the girls side of the action.  Sprinting events are generally dominated by the downstate athletes, as they are accustomed to the speed of the banked tracks.  But Jenna Crean is from Buffalo, and is slated to challenge the notion that flat-track athletes are slower in the sprints.  Crean is the Top Returner from the State Meet last year, the only girl remaining to break 40secs in the final at Cornell.  Her bets time of the year is from the Armory, and proves she only gets faster on the banked tracks.

Her competition is a little closer to the home facility.  Halle Hazzard is looking to pull off the sprint double, coming back from the 55m.  She ran a facility-leading time of 39.07 at the CHSAA Intersectional Champs, and knows how to handle Ocean Breeze.  Three more athletes have dipped under that 40sec barrier, but the top two seem poised to have a dual by the sea.
