Breakdown: Brandon McGorty has been the national leader in the 1000m for the past two years and will be looking to move that mark even lower at the Millrose Games. The 1000m has been an odd event to crack for the high school ranks. New Yorker Zavon Watkins actually ran under the national record at the New Balance Collegiate Invite in 2012 but was ultimately disqualified for stepping over the break line two strides early. So, again, the high school mark is attainable. Can McGorty add to the strong family legacy?

Also in the field will be a loaded group of record breakers. Cas Loxsom set an indoor world best (aka unofficial world record for off-distance) just two weeks ago.Donavan Brazier set the NCAA 800m record last summer in a stellar 1:43.55. And Myles Marshall was in McGorty's shoes just two years ago, when he was a Texas prep athlete entered in the pro 1000m at Millrose, too.
