Breakdown: It's rare for Sydney McLaughlin to take aim at a record and come up short. Just three weeks ago at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, she ran the 400m leg in the distance medley relay to help set a world indoor best time (aka unofficial world record for off-distance) among a "Dream Team" of U.S. Olympians. That said, it didn't shift her focus away from the high school record book, as she takes aim to become the second high school athlete to run the 300m in under 37 seconds. She already has the sophomore national record in the event.

She'll have good company, as Shaunae Miller was the Olympic gold medalist over 400m for the Bahamas and hometown favorite Natasha Hastings won gold for Team USA in the 4x400m.
