The lone high schooler in the professional section of the New Balance Games, Conor Lundy of Fordham Prep entered in the mile after the recent blizzard wiped clean the slate of events for high school athletes. Tacking on to the back of a large pack of sub-4 capable runners, Lundy was pulled along to a career best indoors.
His 4:08.25 is not only a US #1, it now rests as NY #3 All-Time, and in the Top 30 All-Time for the US. He takes down the previous state leader set by Aidan Tooker, where he ran 4:09.38. The two will meet up once more at the Millrose Games, where they are both currently entered in the Larry Byrne Invitational HS Mile.
UPDATE: Conor Lundy has two more accolades coming his way, as his mark now break's Sean Kelly's (Chaminade) Catholic State Record in the mile, while his 1500m FAT split of 3:51.20 now ranks as NY #2 All-Time, just behind Alex Hatz (Fayetteville-Manlius)
