New York Girls State XC Rankings Week 2

Following Week of Saturday, September 27

The second week of the rankings was centered around the huge McQuaid Invitational out near Buffalo. An off day for Fayetteville-Manlius and a very on day for Elmira led to FM's first loss to a NY team in 9 years by a 67-71 score, with Shenendehowa close behind at 75 in the AAA race. Burnt Hills captured the AA race and East Aurora took the A race to wrap up a great day of competition at McQuaid. There is a little messiness in the team results for McQuaid as some teams decided to run some key runners or even their whole team in the Sophomore race.

Other major meets affecting the rankings included that speed-rating killer called the Bowdoin Invite that Guilderland bravely dove into, the Queensbury Invite that Saratoga flexed its leg muscles in, and the EJ Herrmann Invite where Bethlehem won a tie-breaker over Niskayuna and where Beaver River also won. Out of state, many teams headed to the Wild Safari meet in New Jersey, where Sachem East, Pearl River, Garden City, John Jay-Cross River, and Hackley picked up wins for an NY sweep, the Ocean State Invite in Rhode Island where Greenwich was triumphant, and even way out to CA for the Stanford Invite where Cornwall bagged a 2nd in Race 4.
