The high school cross country championship picture is coming into focus with talks between Nike and Foot Locker this summer. The two major corporate sponsors of high school cross country are near agreement for continuation of the Nike sponsorship of the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships. Foot Locker in turn will be a sponsor of the new Nike Team Nationals (NTN).

Slightly more than 30% of the PIAA State Championship medalists will be competing in the 2004 Northeast Foot Locker Championships on Saturday, November 27 at Van Cortlandt Park in New York City.
A lot of PA's best runners chose to compete in the class races at the Foot Locker Northeast Regionals, with several getting top ten places. Frosh Mark Dennin and John Lacolla went 2nd and 7th; Kaitlynn Meck of Northern HS, was 10th in her race; Carlisle sophomore Marie Lamparter finished a strong 3rd in 19:50; juniors Meghan Burns and Marcie Sobrinski were 3rd and 6th; and Henderson senior Marissa Murtaugh took 5th.

PA has 2 Footlocker Qualifiers, Jeff Weiss (AA State XC Champ - McGuffey) was 6th in 15:42.6 and Craig Miller (AAA State XC Champ - Manheim Twp) was 8th in 15:43. The 1st PA girl was Neeley Spence of Shippensburg, 14th in 18:47.6.
Jeff Weiss and Craig Miller, the two boys state champions in 2004, are in the Foot Locker finals set for December 11th at Balboa Park in San Diego, California. Their 6th and 8th place performances highlighted a great day for Pennsylvania athletes on the venue known simply as Vanny in New York\\\'s Bronx.
Both state boys\' cross country champs have received post-season honors from The Harrier, while Homeschooled Neely Spence of Shippensburg was named an All-Frosh team.
