Frances Koons had the feeling she was good enough to become a Foot Locker finalist after running within nine seconds of a 2002 Finalist in September. She gained the confidence to become a Foot Locker Finalist after a tough Mid-East Regional race in mid-November in Ohio. But on Saturday at Van Cortlandt, she not only had the perfect plan to get a ticket to San Diego, she had the perfect attitude. She did everything right, before and during the race.
PA athletes posted some impressive perfomances in the eight class races at the Northeast Regionals, led by 2nd place finishes by Cumberland Valley\'s Curtis Bixler in the boys Sophomore race, and Mercer\'s Nichole Smith in the girls Junior race.

On paper, this was the best PA class in years. Three had broken a legend\'s CR at Belmont Plateau. One had beaten the new record holder and won a state title. Another had been this way before, going to the finals in 2002. Another had set a CR on Slippery Rock\'s hilly layout. And three had fare well against the Midwest\'s best. So what happened?

Several PA Foot Locker hopefuls took advantage of the New York Road Runner\'s Championships on Sunday Nov 14th to get a preview of Van Cortlandt Park. If their trial runs are any indication, they should be in the hunt.
PA will be well represented at Northeast Foot Lockers with a few in the \"favorites\" category - including state champs Craig Miller and Jeff Wiess.
