NEW YORK – Senior Emily Taussig knew it was only a matter of time until St. Anthony’s depth would take over the CHSAA championships. Her teammates, on the other hand were stirring. 


They were watching scoreboard and Kellenberg’s nine-point lead and started saying that the mood around the team needed to change.


“No more playing around,” Olicia Williams said. “Recess is over. It’s time to run.”


Williams was the first to back the talk. She led a 1-2 finish in the 400 meters, winning in 54.75 seconds. Sophomore Megan Fiedler finished second in 57.21 as the Friars mounted its comeback to win its second straight CHSAA championship Saturday at Ichan Stadium with 76 points. Kellenberg took second with 66.


“We started off slow today,” St. Anthony’s coach Oliver St. Aude said. “We just weren’t being aggressive. But the girls came together.”
