Girls Weekend Round-Up / Athlete of the Week (12/26 - 1/5)

So much goes on throughout the great State of New York, you need one spot to bring in the best of the action. We'll give our top performances of the weekend, then let you vote on which you think was the best.

This week's poll will close on Friday at Noon.

Lilly Ascone (Williamsville East) - At the Freedom Games, Ascone ran a personal best of 2:53.07 to take second place in the 1000m. That now ranks her as NY-3 this year.

Breanne Barnett (Baldwin) - After dipping under 39-seconds for the 300m at the Marine Corps Invite, Barnett came back at the Hispanic Games to run 54.40 in the 400m - good for NY-10 All-Time in the event.

Cella McLaughlin (Corning) - We saw it coming after her hurdle race. Heading to the Long Jump pit, McLaughlin lept a State Leading 19-4, setting a new Section 4 Record.

Maggie McCormick (Bay Shore) - At the Hispanic Games, McCormick won the Invitational Mile in a big indoor best of 4:48.00, also splitting a State Leading 4:29 in the 1500m.

Olivia DiGaetano (Connetquot) - A near ten-second lifetime best in the 3000m at the Hispanic Games makes DiGaetano the new State Leader. Her 9:49.23 also puts her into the Top 50 All-Time in the event.
