After the 4x200 trials at the Hispanic Games, Suitland (Md.) knew its relay needed to make a small but major adjustment to they way they raced.

“Everybody needed to get out faster,” said anchor leg Levern Jacobs.

Simple as that. More aggression and clean stick passes and Suitland’s Ryan Allen, Jordan, Taivon Jacobs and Levern Jacobs, ignited the crowd with a spectacular win in the 4x200 Saturday in 1:27.79. The time is good enough for a Maryland state record and a Hispanic Games meet record.

“Our mission was to come in here and break the record,” Levern Jacobs said. “We possibly can run even faster.”
