Things changed so quickly for Francis Lewis senior Chukwuebuka Enekwechi that he barely had a chance to digest it all. Every time he threw a shot put that sailed over 60 feet he felt like a kid on Christmas morning – lulled into a trance by his first bike.
Two years ago, Enekwechi was, as he called it, “a big kid,” jogging in a gym class when Francis Lewis coach Ralph Montanaro spotted him and offered “Chuk” a spot on the track team throwing the shot put. By his junior year, Enekwechi was a good thrower, one of the best in a PSAL not stocked with big names manning the throwing circle.
