SARATOGA SPRINGS – If this is a dream season for Shaker, they must still be sleeping.
The Bison, ranked No. 8 in the country, won their first Section 2 title Friday at the Saratoga Spa State Park, scoring 31 points in Class AA. Shaker made its stake in history but also proved the team might still be improving.
Junior Christian Delago, a half-miler new to the cross country team this season, used a burst over the last mile to win the Class AA individual title on the 3.09-mile course in 15:08, the fastest time of the day. Delago was seventh after two miles and Saratoga’s Sam Place demanding the pace. But Delago showed his speed over the last hill and commanded the lead in the stretch.
