Sub-4 The New Standard For New York's Male Milers In College

It's been a busy year for NY Alum, as a full slate of Indoor opportunities once again has given rise to several new Sub-4 Minute Milers.

It's the magic mark known across the sport, and within the culture at large. "What's your mile time?" is a question that has kept the odd distance on the books, despite the rest of the sport converting to meters years ago.

It's now 2022, and three athletes are joining the pantheon of New York-born runners who have been granted access to the exclusive club. Aidan Ryan brings a special flair to his performance, setting the D3 Collegiate Record in the event in January.  Matt Payamps had one of the strongest debuts up in Boston ever, leading Robert Becker under the mark as well, in the same race.

And then there are more knocking on the door behind them.

With three single additions in the same year, it's already been one of the strongest. But opportunities for additions last all the way through December, and we can expect much more to come. Tune in to MileSplit to follow all the action yearlong.

Note:

After careful research, we believe this list to be 95% complete.  If you note an athlete we left off, please reach out and let us know at kbrazeil@milesplit.com.
