Back At Bowdoin Park For A Fast Feds - Full Recap

Girls Individual Race

Breakdown

The race quickly turned into a rematch from the Class A States race, as Hannah Kaercher and Karrie Baloga both moved towards the front, with Emily Bush right off the back.  The trio pushed the pace through the opening mile, up the hills of Bowdoin Park. Just off the lead pack was Izzie Sullivan, doing what she could to move up through the crowd.  Cresting the hill at the halfway point, it was still Baloga and Kaercher, with Sullivan now in striking distance. By two miles, Sullivan had become even, and was taking over dueling duties from her teammate.  Baloga pushed the pace back onto the final flats of the race, with Sullivan hanging on, but the Junior had too much in the reserves. She accelerated out the final straightaway, and put a gap on the field in the last points of the chute.

Baloga improved her best time at Bowdoin by five seconds, moving to #15 All-Time, while Sullivan was just 8-seconds off Kelsey Chmiel's freshman course record. Sullivan now stands at #22 All-Time, part of that exclusive sub-18 minute club.
