2021 NYSPHSAA Boys State Championship Meet Preview

Boys Class D - Individuals

Breakdown:

All the drama of the team race could play out in the individual finishes at the top.  Adam Furman is the top seeded athlete heading into the race, but Colton Kempney is the State's Top Returner for the Class D competition. Kempney put 35-seconds on Collin Stafford at Sectionals over the weekend, indicating he is returning from a string of injuries at just the right time. Pierce Young will be doing some chasing, but he was less than a second off Kempney at Pre-States, and ahead of Stafford.  The shuffling should create some exciting shifts in the team scoring, and this race will come right down to the line.

Quick History:

Tri-Valley has only had one Individual State Champion. It was Adam Furman's dad, Chip Furman, in 1990.

Beaver has had three Individual State Titles

South Lewis has had two athletes place runner up since 1950
