NY Boys Team
Breakdown: There is nothing quite like the unpredictability of Regionals. Before we get to the team breakdown, we need to add some individuals into the mix. Tyler Berg went toe-to-toe with Shea Weilbaker at McQuaid, grabbing the win. It was the last time the pair would meet in the same race before now. Weilbaker edged Berg in the merge at States by less than half a second. Berg could very well be Regional Champ. And not to be forgotten, but Garrett Brennan is the reigning Regional Champ, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see a repeat there as well. At States, it was teammate Geoff Howles who took runner-up to Weilbaker, so either one could make the push for valuable team points.
As it stands, Manlius and Burnt Hills look to have a solid lead on the field. Manlius crushed the Five-Man Average at Sunken Meadow, and a similar performance here should bring them an auto-slot. Burnt Hills looked their strongest at States as well, and found a solid gap over third place. Barring a disaster like last year, they should be the second team. Smithtown and Corning are in that next grouping, vying to get as close as possible in case something does go awry up front. And Saratoga starts with a single point, so they can't be counted out either.
At-Large Potential: While we have no say in the process, it does not look likely we'll gain an At-Large from the New York.
