The Seven Biggest Stories To Come Out Of New York Sectional Weekend

2. Katelyn Tuohy Breaks Bowdoin Record In Workout

Katelyn Tuohy (North Rockland) reiterates why she is regarded as the best runner in the country right now. Running another workout, Tuohy took down Aisling Cuffe's (Cornwall) Bowdoin Park Course Record in 17:10.4. Her workout consisted of form work on the flat parts of the course, while attacking the hills. The mark improved her prior mark from a workout at the Section 1 Coaches Invite, which was strictly fartlek.

Tuohy is a favorite heading into the state meet, but it is unclear how hard she will run. With the course predicted to be as sloppy as it is, the harder she runs, the more tired she will be for Feds. Tuohy mentions she would like to run all-out at Feds in the interview, and to do so would require her to be rested and ready.  We'll see if this record could go under 17 minutes.
