Nathan Lawler Takes Home Course Record, Fairport Separates, Rush-Henrietta Outlasts At Monroe County

The Monroe County Championships hold some of the biggest schools in Section 5.  As such, the talent field was loaded, and records went down.  Hear more below.

Nathan Lawler Bests The Field

After a strong showing at Manhattan, Syracuse-bound Nathan Lawler (Pittsford-Mendon) held nothing back at his local league meet.  Taking off from the field, he would go on to finish thirty seconds ahead of the next best finisher.  His mark of 14:57 resets a course record he had broken as both a sophomore (15:27) and a junior (15:08).

Fairport was the only team in the field under 100 points, scoring only 48 against the field.  They managed to put four in the top eleven overall, to seal the victory.

Churchville And Henrietta Split Wins

Rush-Henrietta may have taken the team title by a mere six points over Churchville-Chili, but the margins were reversed in the individual race.  Haley Arguien (Churchville) out lasted Hailey Riorden (Rush-Henrietta) by merely than a second, to take the win in 18:34.0.

Rush-Henrietta is currently ranked NY #16, while Churchville-Chili at NY #25 for Class A.  Expect that to be a big matchup heading into Sectionals, and for the race to be just as close.
