States Individuals (Top 10 finishers): Clark Foley (1999, A-6th), Stephen Booker (2003, A-5th)
Last Year's Summary: 4th in Sectionals A
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Year's Outlook | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Bethlehem ran to a 4th place finish in the always tough S2-A last year, and with the top 7 back for this year, the Eagles joins Niskayuna and Shen as sectional teams that are in comparatively flush times. Frontrunners Grossman and Davis finished 6th and 8th in the S2-A, and Grossman went on to finish 38th at States. The Eagles need some help at the 5-6 spots to compete strongly in the S2-A, so there is some work to be done.
Baldwinsville | Bees | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Section: 3 | Class: A | Colors: Red and white
Garrett Vannatta ran to a 9th place finish at Sectionals for Baldwinsville as the Bees finished 3rd.

Last Year's Summary: 15th in NXN-NY, 3rd in Sectionals A
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Year's Outlook | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Bees finished 3rd in the S3-A section that supplies the pair of teams going to NXN, so the races are always very demanding and the at-large spots at States pretty scarce. With five guys returning to form a largely junior pack of runners all at the 160+ mark, Baldwinsville may be well positioned to move up in the S3-A despite the loss of some key runners. Frontrunner Garrett Vannatta was close to getting a States ticket last year, and he should earn one this year in the event that the Bees do not win their first Sectional title in 39 years.

Section: 5 | Class: A | Colors: Orange and black

States Individuals (Top 10 finishers): Jeff Winden (1989, B-6th), Matt St. James (2002, A-7th)
Last Year's Summary: 3rd in Sectionals A
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Year's Outlook | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Like many of the preseason highly rated teams that did not win their Sectionals last year, the Saints are benefiting from the fact that they have their top 5 guys back this year after some strong development last year. S5-A is a tough section, but Churchville-Chili with States medalist Payton Gleason on the lead should be very competitive this year in its battle with Fairport and Penfield..
Smithtown | Bulls | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Section: 11 | Class: A | Colors: Navy and white
A Smithtown trio of Kevin Cawley, Marius Sidlauskas, and Nick Cipolla leans into a wave going over the bridge in Race A of the Manhattan Invite. The Bulls alerted eveyone that they were for real with a 3rd place ahead of many big-name teams on the way to a 5th place at States.

Last Year's Summary: 8th in NXN-NY, 5th in States, 1st in Sectionals A
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Year's Outlook | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Smithtown was the surprise team in Class A last year as the Bulls won their first Sectionals title in 9 years on the way to a 5th at States. Some key runners including frontrunner Michael Grabowski were lost from last year's team, however, so the Bulls will need to be refortified if they hope to repeat in S11-A. Nicholas Cipolla and Kevin Cawley are back from top-20 S11-A finishes, and a group of seniors behind them will need a bit of a boost for the battle with Northport and Ward Melville.

| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Year's Outlook | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Shea Weilbaker was the top sophomore last year and Saratoga won the S2-A title and went on to a 4th at States. But it appears that the Blue Streaks have lost five of the top 6 from last year, and that will be a problem for any effort to repeat as Sectional champ in a murderously tough S2-A. Behind Weilbaker, the next runners are Ruggles, Verro, and Burns, who all finished in the S2-A's top 50, but another big rebuilding effort appears to be in demand here.
