New York State XC Rankings
Following Week of Saturday, October 20
Note: Last week began the late October prep period for postseason when only a few of the large teams were running full squads if they were running at all. Teams that had run at Manhattan a week before generally saw a drop off in their speed ratings, which is natural, and teams won prep meets comfortably and took TR hits. The view here is that the heavy lifting work for the ratings was done before last week, so there are few changes for the classes except for a few teams joining the list after big leaps in performance. At this point what matters is how well teams are set for sectionals next week. The term "Inactive" is now being replaced by "No scored races" to indicate that teams may have run in local championships that were not TR scored.

Perry's Rationale and Wrapper: | The week after the Manhattan Invitational was fairly quiet. Penfield, Liverpool, Elmira, and Kellenberg all picked up wins. The biggest battle came at Chittenango where Liverpool scored an 11 point victory over Cicero-North Syracuse.
Kyle's Comments: | Despite a quiet week, you can expect most major teams got in a hard week of workouts to prep for next weeks championships. |

Next up: Ursuline, Wantagh, Somers, Franklin Academy |
Perry's Rationale and Wrapper: | Not a huge amount of action going on last week. The top three contenders for the Section 1 Class B title all won races comfortably at the Coaches meet, and Pearl River and Nanuet flipped places based on a big time differential. Next week they'll maybe flip again on the way to sectionals. Honeoye Falls-Lima also picked up a win at Clarence.
Kyle's Comments: | Section 2 and Section 1 will both fall into the trap of the qualifying system, leaving one worthy team back at Sectionals. Should be good action. |

Next up: Holland-Patent, Catskill, Allegany-Limestone, Cohoes, Ilion |
Perry's Rationale and Wrapper: | Bronxville ran without Mary Cain but still picked up the 4th victory of the Section 1 Coaches meet races without much trouble, and the Broncos pushed the TR a little higher. Both Tully and Skaneateles picked up victories and the race for the Section 3 Class C crown couldn't be much closer. Schuylerville and Fonda-Fultonville had strong races at Greenwich and moved a little closer to Section 2 frontrunner Maple Hill, who had a partial squad there. Fredonia also had a good race at Eden and moved into the 4th spot in the rankings.
Kyle's Comments: | There is still some decision how Cain will affect team rankings. We may split the rankings, as one will be used for States, and one for NXN-NY. Regardless, the Bronco's still have a heavy lead. |

Perry's Rationale and Wrapper: | Very quiet times in Class D last week, but South Lewis and Victoria Campanian won at the Frontier League meet to open up some breathing room in the battle for the Section 3 title.
Kyle's Comments: | Not much switchup this week. |
