National Girls Performer of the Week (10/16 - 10/22)

Lillie Bogdan, last year's NYSPHSAA state cross country runner-up, collected this past week's National Performer of the Week.

With her fourth run and win of the season, the Frontier High School junior ran a near personal best of 17:54.52 at the 37th Alden Bulldogs XC Stampede last Saturday. 

The Falcon held on to a 40-second lead to take the win, surpassing her performance from last year by almost 10 seconds. She currently holds the fourth-fastest 5k time in the meet's history.

Bogdan scored 60-percent of the votes and was named this week's National Performer of the Week.

It's time to vote for this week's NPOTW. The poll will end Friday and the winner will be announced next Monday.

Here the nominations for the National Girls Performer of the Week:

Chiara Dailey, La Jolla (CA): This weekend at the 75th Annual Mt.SAC Invitational, the sophomore ran 16:52 for 2.93 miles, taking home her fifth win of the season. The Viking underclassman was the only girl to slide under 17 minutes, carrying a 30-second lead. She earned a 151 speed rating.

Jessica Jazwinski, Hart (MI): With a handful of first place finishes this season, the junior earned two more both on Tuesday and Saturday. The Pirate's leader dipped to 16:47.80 at the WMC Mega Meet during the week. Her run was three minutes faster than a fellow teammate. Jaswinski now currently holds the eighth-fastest 5K time in the nation.

Sofia Day, Mainland Regional (NJ): This past Thursday, the junior dipped under 17 minutes in the 5K for the first time at the CAL Championships in Galloway, clocking 16:59.37. She not only collected her first 5K win of the season and took down the previous meet record from 2016, but she also landed herself among the top 20 fastest runners (5k) in the nation. The Mustang ladies won by 18 points.

Christina Allen, River Dell HS (NJ): University of Cincinnati commit, Allen ran 18:32, a season best, to earn her first Bergen County Meet of Champions individual title in Hackensack. The Senior collected her fifth win on Saturday.

Bethany Michalak, Air Academy (CO): At the Colorado 5A Region 5 meet last week, Michalak ran another sub-17 performance in 16:59.10. The future Wolfpack runner ushered her team toward the overall win with 17 points, as the Kadets held a lead of 56 points ahead of Valor Christian.

Addison Ritzenhein, Niwot High School (C0): Currently the nation's fastest team's leader, this sophomore clocked her second sub-17 time for 5K last Thursday at the Colorado 4A Region 3 meet in 16:58 flat. Ritzenhein shattered her freshman run by a near two minutes and earned a 155 speed rating for her efforts.

Ruth White, Orono HS (ME): On Saturday, the senior toed the line in 17:08.19 at the Northern Maine Class C Regional meet, leading her team to a title win. Crushing last year's bid by nearly 45 seconds, the Boise commit set a meet record for the second time in her high school career.
