CIAC Outdoor State Open Recap

The distance events yielded three different winners as Gabriella Hernandez made a late surge to overtake Kali Holden for the win in the 800m the while reigning champ Olivia Birney passed Esme Daplyn for 3rd. The 1600m was won by Rachel St. Germain from the unseeded section with the lone sub 5:00 time. In the seeded section a collision at the bell between Daplyn and Emily Mrakovcic sent both runners stumbling or down, though Mrakovcic was able to get back up to catch Holden and post the second fastest time in the event. Katherine Rector and St. Germain ran together in the 3200m for 7 39/40 laps until Rector's last surge got her the win by .23.
