Boys Distance
You couldn't have asked for more in the boys distance races as three meet records went down and a state record was crushed. Gavin Sherry's US #1 time of 4:01.88 in the 1600m blew away the old SR by 6.54 seconds, and silver medalist Wolcott's Nick Bendtsen also went well under the old mark. Sherry also also lowered the MR in the 3200 by diving just under 9:00. Top ranked but with a Class meet 6th seeding coming in, Cheshire's Ryan Farrell also contributed heavily to the record-breaking mayhem by knocking .05 off the MR for the 800m.
Both Haddam-Killingworth's Matthew Jennings and Fairfield Prep's Azaan Dawson were hot on Farrell's heels in the 800m and finished less than 1.5 seconds behind. All eight scorers in the 1600m went under 4:17, 3rd through 5th place guys of Westhill's Colin McLaughlin, Bristol Eastern's Nate DeAngelo, and New Fairfield's Patrick Gibbons all joined Sherry and Bendtsen in setting huge PRs. Manchester's Aidan Puffer followed Sherry in at the 3200m with a new outdoor PR, and Bendtsen and Xavier's Eamon Burke were 3rd and 4th.
