Ocean Breeze Freedom Games Preview Blowout

Girls Distance

1000m

While Katelyn Tuohy (North Rockland) may be one of the favorites in the 600m, she's outright in the 1000m.  With a best of 4:47.86, and plenty of ambition to go faster, she's the clear leader here.  Deanna Martin (Valley Stream South) is currently US #4 at 2:57.13, but will need a ten second drop if Tuohy is in form.  Those two make up the seeds under 3min heading into the race.  One to watch is PA's Christine Mancini (Cardinal O'Hara) who has hit 2:14 in the 800m, which converts to just as fast.

1600m

There are a slew of girls hovering around that magic 5min mark here in the 1600m (just short of a mile.)  Alex Thomas (Tappan Zee) and Katie Turk (Carmel) will be representing Section 1, while Maureen Lewin (Kellenberg) and Giavanna Comerford (Notre Dame) will be doing the same for the CHSAA.  These four seem the closest to the leader position, and it could come down to a kick over the final meters.

3000m

Upstate is coming down to challenge for the longest distance on the track.  It will be interesting to see how hard Sarah Trainor (FDR) pushes herself as the top seed here, with the 600m marquee coming later in the meet.  However, she doesn't  have much margin to play with, as Jessica Pidgeon (Monroe-Woodbury) and Faith Demars (Ballston Spa) are all within 5secs of Trainor at 10:10.  Local talent will come from Sierra Dinneen (Notre Dame Academy), who is hovering close to the same breakthrough race as the others.  Haleigh Morales (North Rockland) has also broken 10min outdoors, but suffered minor injury during XC.
