Why: You can expect the shorter distance than NY'ers are used to serving as a reason to blast a fast time. Mason Gatewood (Saint Anthony's) is fresh off a Millrose Qualifier that may not have ended how he would have wanted. He qualified for the big show, but was outkicked at the line. Expect him to do everything he can to prevent a repeat. Fellow NY'er Tyler Berg (Burnt Hills) looks to be the only other guy from the Empire State to join Gatewood and his teammate Matt Payamps in the seeded section. Berg was an NXN-Qualifier to match Gatewood's Foot Locker appearance, and the pair are set to square off.
Chief among the competition are fellow 3200m guys dropping down in distance. CT brings Brendan Murray (Cheshire) with a 9:06.49 best, as well as Ben Seiple (Staples) at 9:13.19. Outside of the Nutmeg State is Connor Nisbet (Wilmington Friends, DE), who brings in a 9:25.90.
