Monique Hardy Improves Own Frosh State Record

Rochester is having a really good weekend at USATF Junior Olympic Championships in Kansas.  Last night, Lanae-Tava Thomas broke the Junior National Record in the Long Jump.  But it was only the second State Record broken by a New Yorker that weekend.

Webster Thomas' Monique Hardy improved upon her own NY State Frosh Hammer Record she had previously set at the USATF Region Qualifier.  There, she had thrown 151-06 to win the meet, and secure her bid to Kansas.  The mark bettered the previous record by 13ft.

Hardy did it again at the USATF Junior Olympic Champs.  After jumping out the lead with a new Personal Best in her first throw, she would foul all the other attempts besides her 4th.  It would be there where Hardy again pushed out her best to a new 47.67m mark, or 156-04.  This replaces her old Frosh State Record, and pushes her closer to the Soph State Record of 164-03.  Hardy would take second overall in the meet, after being beaten on Danielle Gregory's (Liberty, MO) final throw.  Gregory is a soph, while Hardy is a frosh.
