Katelyn Tuohy Produces Big-Time Effort Of 4:18.51 In 1500m At NY States

North Rockland (NY) High super freshman Katelyn Tuohy broke the 4:20 barrier in the 1500m by winning the NYSPHSAA Championship race in a new US No. 1 time of 4:18.51, which converts to 4:39.11 for the full mile.

Tuohy, who was second in this race to Rush Henrietta (NY) High senior Sammy Watson last year in 4:24.36 as an eighth grader, knocked six seconds off her personal best to win her first New York title.

The freshman intimidated later in an interview (above) that she would be running the full mile at nationals.

Tuohy also owns a US No. 4 performance in the 3000m of 9:30.28.
