Section | Top Teams | Notes |
1 | Pearl River, John Jay-Cross River, Tappan Zee, Brewster, Somers, Nanuet | The
S1-B outlook looks much like last year at the start with Pearl River
having the edge over 2015 reigning champ JJ-CR and Tappan Zee sitting in
3rd and Bewster 4th. This contest as always should be very heated and
the outcome will heavily depend on which team has the biggest
developments by the time October rolls around. |
2 | Burnt Hills, Emma Willard, South Glens Falls, Holy Names, Scotia-Glenville | Burnt
Hills was the 2014 NY-B champ and then finished 3rd at States last
year, and the Spartans look to be far ahead in S2-B now that Queensbury
has been bumped up to Class A. |
3 | Westhill-Bishop Ludden, Jamesville-Dewitt, New Hartford, Whitesboro | This
should have one of the closest sectional contests in all of NY, as
Westhill won last year by 6 points over Jamesville-Dewitt. and this year
both teams have 4 of their top 5 back. |
4 | Vestal, Maine-Endwell, Johnson City | Unlike
S4-A, S4-B is not now a strong sectional group, and both Vestal and
Maine-Endwell will have some work to do to fill out their squads. |
5 | Pittsford Sutherland, Canandaigua, Honeoye Falls-Lima, Pittsford Mendon, Mercy, Brighton, Aquinas | The
S5-B definitely has the closest and deepest contest among the NY B
sectionals as the four teams .at the top enter the season within 3 TR
points of each other. Pittsford Sutherland and Canandaigua finished a
ways back in 3rd and 4th at sectionals last year but have thei top 6
back, while reigning S5-B champ HFL and Pittsford Mendon both lost two
runners from the top 5. Mercy is also up among the top 20 teams in NY-B,
so this group is stacked. |
6 | East Aurora, Sweet Home, Pioneer, Lewiston Porter | Last
year's S6-B runner-up West Seneca West has bounced right back up to
Class A after a one year stint in B just as it looked to be forming a
strong young team, while reigning States C champ East Aurora moves back
up to Class B to again take over the show after a two year absence..
Reigning champ Pioneer got its first sectional crown last year but lost
its top runner, so Sweet Home appears to be taking over the role of main
competition to EA. |
7 | Peru, Beekmantown | Peru is no longer the only lonely in S7-B with B-town moving up, but the Indians should win again. |
8 | North Shore, South Side, Manhasset, Wantagh | North
Shore lost Diana Vizza and a big class to graduation and doesn't fit in
the preseason top 20 NY-B teams for the first time in quite a
while.Tthe Vikings will develop some new talent, but they start off the
season even with rising Great Neck North and South Side teams. |
9 | Cornwall, Goshen, Monticello, New Paltz, Walkill | Cornwall
again is the favorite in S9-B, but a rising Goshen team could challenge
the Dragons if it can develop the back of the lineup.. |
10 | Franklin Academy | Franklin (Malone) is the one and really only. |
11 | Shoreham-Wading River, Bayport-Blue Point, Miller Place, Mt. Sinai, Islip | Shoreham-Wading River is still by far the top team in S11-B, though BBP is becoming ever more of a threat. |
