Event Info: 2015 Winner: Rayvon Grey (Beacon) 22-10.75, State Record: 25-3.5, Meet Record: 25-2, State Qualifier Mark: 22-1 (D1) - 21-00 (D2)

State of the Action

The World, and the wind, seemed to stop for the Boys Long Jump D1 finals.  On the one hand, Rayvon Grey was wrapped up, after twisting his non-dominant ankle during a triple jump phase.  On the other, good weather is hard to come by in Spring Track, and Grey wasn't about to let the opportunity go wasted.  Passing on his third jump, already making the finals, he was saving his energy for something special.  After being far behind the board on his 4th attempt, Grey found his placement on the 5th launching into the air, and silencing the crowd.  As he came down, he knew it would be special, popping out of the pit in excitement.

The officials measured the mark at 25-4.75, with no wind, a new State Record, surpassing Bob Beamon, whose record stood since 1965.
