Kam McIntosh Returns From Injury With US #3 For 600m

It's been a long road to recovery for Kam McIntosh.  The Suffern junior went 1:31.90 to win the 600m in her second race back on the track in 7 months.  While for most, the NY #16 All-Time mark would be a seasons' goal, but for the State and National Record holder in the event, it's a good start.

McIntosh, who had suffered pain in her legs the preceding spring, had been diagnosed with potential stress fractures.  Cheering her friends on through XC season on crutches, McIntosh was ready to make a return to the track.  But the story wasn't over.

It turns out the stress fractures hid a deeper problem: a benign tumor in her knee.  Once diagnosed, medication could be applied, and the return trip was on.

McIntosh threw down a rust-busting 2:17 in the 800m last week, at the NJ Varsity Classic.  However, it was back to form yesterday at the Class A Sectional Meet at the Armory, where McIntosh ran away from the field to score valuable points for her team.  Her relay squad, whom are the defending National Champs in the DMR, already saw a State Record from 8th Grade Mary Hennelly.  In addition to Kam's mark in the 600m, she also anchored her 4x400m in 56point.

Welcome back.
