State of the Action: There were hints of what could be possible by this years edition of Fayetteville-Manlius.  Unlike the past two years, Manlius entered the meet both undefeated, and relatively unchallenged.  That would all change, as US #2 Saratoga would be entered on the line alongside the defending National Champs, and the Blue Streaks looked to be the strongest they had been since 2005.  But again, reminiscent of years past where FM had scored 15 points at the Class A state meet, they had a team makeup of several possible front runners, with their Top Returner (and the State Meet's second fastest returner from last year) running as their third girl in 2015.  The Hornets went out hard, to quickly establish themselves against Saratoga.  As the jersey began to litter across the finish line, it was clear who the victor was.  Manlius had managed to put 5 runners in front of the entire field's second girl.  Saratoga still put on a strong performance, with a little more variability, taking second nearly 40 points ahead of nationally ranked North Rockland, who took third.

Go to a major invitational and you'll see some pretty good cross country teams amass 268 points and still finish comfortably among the top 10 squads in a field of 18 or 20 schools.  The Fayetteville-Manlius girls finished the 2015 NYSPHSAA championships Saturday at Monroe-Woodbury triumphant with 268 points -- for the entire decade.  The Hornets scored 28 points in the Class A race to easily secure their 10th straight New York State Public High School Athletic Association championship in the largest class. It's an unprecedented streak by any school in any NYSPHSAA state championship competition.  Their average of 26.8 points per meet over the past decade includes three straight perfect scores from 2009-11. They've averaged an even more astounding 22.33 points over the past nine years.
