Flashbacks Bring Fast Back To Balwdinsville Invitational

Boys Large School Individual

Notes: New York's top NXN returner opens his season, proving you don't have to start the season early to start fast. Pete Ryan ran with teammate Patrick Perry through to the final 1000m, and then put on the pressure towards the line. His winning mark was only 6 seconds off his former teammate's course record, equally close to Ryan's own best on the course from 2014.

Boys Large School Team

Notes: It wasn't the race we were expecting, but it was no less exciting. Both Liverpool and FM sat some of their top runners, and the diluted field proved to be quite close. Despite the largest compression of the field's top 5, Manlius came away with the win due to a 1-2 finish.

Here is where it get's interesting. Liverpool sat four of their top five. Their fourth at VVS, Terrell Coleman, saw a big jump in performance. Their fifth, an All-American returner from last year, Ryan Comstock, was a ~170 performer the year prior, but has been only listed in dual meets. With a complete team, Liverpool suddenly is becoming a National Player once again. But as always, the story wouldn't be complete without looking at the other side of 2014's battle. Fayetteville-Manlius sat Bryan Geehrer, who won the VVS Invitational. Make that addition, and Manlius also becomes a National Player once again. Could we see the State's top programs once again come only fifteen miles apart? It's a long season, and anything can happen.
