Foundation's Finest: A Chat with Jess Donohue and TJ Hornberger Aug 16, 2012

We took time to catch up with two runners here at Foundation who have been preparing for their seasons all summer long.  Jessica Donohue (North Shore) and TJ Hornberger (Lake Shore) share something else besides their schools resting on the shore's of New York States bodies of water; they both find themselves as the 2nd highest preseason ranked runners in Class B.  You can catch these rankings in our extensive pre-season coverage, with the Boys State Preview coming out tomorrow, August 18th.  And be sure to check back that Monday, to see our first ever MileSplit National Team and Individual Rankings.  But first, check out below.

XC Boys Team Spotlight: Arlington Kyle Brazeil Aug 11, 2012

It may seem like to some that Spring Track just ended.  In some respects, with the Olympics, it still hasn't.  But cross-country season is right upon us, and that means the national spotlight turns back to New York.  In a state where the girls teams have routinely dominated the National Championships, and with boys not doing too shabby either, it can be argued that New York is the best state in the nation for the sport of XC.  This year, MileSplit is dedicated to highlight those key performances.  For the first time, MileSplit National will be producing our own internal National Rankings for both team and individuals, to be released the week of August 20th for the preseason.  In the meantime, we'll be handling all the action here in New York.  Early next week, we'll be releasing our intensive boys season preview, where we break down all the big names and big matchups.  But just to whet your appetite, we took a trip upstate, to meet with one of the Top 5 boys teams in the state.

New York State Girls XC Preview Perry King Aug 09, 2012

Another NY cross country season is about to strike, and all indications suggest that it will be another classic fall beglittered with crushing records, extended and broken streaks, challengingly tough race-day conditions, and rancorous controversies. Few fans will be disappointed in the action unless they are hoping for a state and national title for their local team, a payoff that can only potentially happen for 8 and 2 teams respectively out of the hundreds of guys and girls teams scattered across New York. But the fun is mainly in the sweet, sweaty, painful effort, which all the shirts paraded around the Manhattan Invitational and other big meets weeks down the road will bear testimony to.
