Track season is back and the first big meet of the year was on Saturday in Lexington. Below you will find Week 2 of the KYtrackXC.com Athletes of the Week. There were no middle schools meets this week, so there are only High School and College Awards. Any former Kentucky high school track athlete is eligible for the weekly college award regardless of whether or not the school is located in Kentucky.

Pitt women's track and field team placed second overall out of 18 teams, Friday, at the Great Dane Classic in New York, N.Y. The Panthers won three events and placed 20 athletes.
Final ResultsThe UMass women's track and field team competed in the Great Dane Invitational this Friday taking 11th place out of the 18 teams in attendance. The Minutewomen finished the meet with 31 points and had five athletes qualify for the New England Championships at the end of the season.

ResultsKen O'Brien's indoor track and field squad provided another solid performance at Saturday's Great Dane Invitational being hosted by the University of Albany. In a field of 24 teams, the Minutemen tied for ninth with Maryland-Eastern Shore as both squads tallied 33 points.
New York, N.Y. – The Long Island men's and women's track and field teams competed in the Great Dane Classic at the Armory on Friday night, where the men placed eighth and the women placed fifth in the team standings. The Blackbirds saw a number of impressive individual performances on both sides, including a new school record from junior Amire Solomon in the triple jump.
Senior Brian Long (Louisville, Ky.) led a trio of Villanova runners that placed first through third in the 3000 meters and the Wildcats enjoyed several individual highlights during competition on Friday at the Albany Great Dane Classic. The meet was held at the New York Armory and the Wildcats came in third out of 24 schools with 63 team points.
Senior Ashlyn Llerandi (Ridgewood, N.J.) improved her season-best mark in winning the pole vault and freshman Samantha Yeats (Califon, N.J.) tallied a win in the high jump in competition at the Albany Great Dane Classic on Friday at the New York Armory. Members of the Villanova team competed at the meet, in which the Wildcats earned team points from seven different individuals and placed seventh of 17 in the team standings with a total of 47 points.
With six first place finishes and three second place finishes, the University of Connecticut men's track and field team came away victorious at the Great Dane Invitational this evening at the Armory in New York, N.Y.
Huskies Among Top Competitors In Multiple Events At Great Dane Invitational
The UMass men's track and field squad is heading to New York State this Friday for the Great Dane Invitational, set to kick off promptly at 12:30 pm. The Minutemen are heading to the Empire State for the first and only time this indoor season, and are expecting a set of strong performances in effort to build off last weekend's second place finish at URI.
The UMass women's track and field team will head to New York, N.Y. this Friday, Jan. 21 for the Great Dane Invitational at 12:30 p.m. At last year's Great Dane Invite, the Minutewomen took fifth place out of 25 teams. The squad will certainly be looking to have another successful showing this year in New York.
