After the first week of real invitationals and local meets the entire state leaderboard and rankings were nearly entirely rewritten. This list features the top 50 boys in each event including relays. 

A group of elite Virginia high school individuals and relays have been selected and will be competing in the invitational high school events this weekend at the New York Armory in the midst of the college meet, the New Balance Collegiate Invitational. 

Both Blacksburg junior Bonnie Angermeier (18:39) and Albemarle senior Ryan Thomas (15:55) shifted into high gear on the final straightaway at Panorama Farms to claim individual victories at the Albemarle Invitational. At Panorama Farms on Saturday, Albemarle senior Ryan Thomas will get one of his last opportunities to race on his home course as his team welcomes 35 schools to the grassy rolling hills of Panorama for the Albemarle Invitational. The 2013 Group AAA state indoor 1000 meter champion Thomas is coming off his best race of the season with a personal best 5K clocking of 15:25 at Great American. He is the top returnee from last year's Albemarle Invitational when he finished 4th with a time of 16:02.

The top four ranked runners for the Group 5A boys will all be present at the Oatlands Invitational this weekend with VA #1 ranked runner and 2013 Group AAA 3200 indoor state champ Louis Colson of Thomas Edison, 15:07 5K runner Mackenzie Haight of George C. Marshall, two-time Central Region cross country champion Nathaniel Hall of Atlee, and 2013 Group AAA 1000 indoor state champ Ryan Thomas of Albemarle. The winner of the 2013 Oatlands Invite will be the victor of a stacked field when adding in top competition from Maryland including state champion Chase Weaverling of Poolesville as well as the top ranked 6A runners in the Chantilly duo of Ryan McGorty and Dakota Lange along with Oakton's Jack Stoney. The 5A quartet of Colson, Haight, Hall, and Thomas is arguably the most talented returnining classification at the top among state title contenders. Virtual meet preview for this Saturday's Oatlands Invitational at the Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg, Virginia. The largest meet of the season up until this point with over 90 schools and nearly 3,800 runners entered.

MileStat.com will be on-site today covering the Ragged Mountain Cup at Panorama Farms outside of Charlottesville. The Cup is the annual season opener for Charlottesville area schools with a 4x2 mile relay format for team's varsity runners followed by an open 2 mile race to follow for the remaining runners on the team. 

MileStat.com visited the Albemarle boys cross country team on Thursday evening on their home cross country course at Panorama Farms just outside of Charlottesville. Their squad is coached by Buz Male, who enters his 40th year of coaching high school cross country. After competing in the competitive Commonwealth District out of the Northwest Region in Group AAA, the Albemarle Patriots move to 5A this fall in the 5A North Division.

Better late than ever...here is your 2013 All-MileStat.com Boys Indoor Track & Field Team! All-MileStat.com outdoor track teams for both boys and girls to be announced within the next week.

Three teams appear to have serious chances at becoming the boys' state team champions between Northwest Region champions and this past indoor's state champions from Forest Park as well as the Eastern Region and Southeastern District's best squads in Western Branch and Grassfield.

  A list of the top returning individuals in each event among Northwest Region Region schools from last year's outdoor season and links to full returnees rankings lists in each event. Kiana Hairston leads the Osbourn Park girls squad as the region's fastest returning sprinter in the 100 (12.04) and 200 (25.14) meter dash. This past indoor season, Hairston won the Northwest Region 55 meter dash title in a 7.15 personal best clocking, while also dipping under 41 seconds in the 300 meter dash.

    A final rankings list of the top 25 boys' performances in each event from this past 2012-2013 indoor track season. Links to full rankings are included as well as the state leaders in each event being highlighted. The Thomas Edison boys 4x800 meter relay ran the state's fourth fastest time in indoor history with a 11 second improvement from their state meet performance (a fourth place 7:58 season best race) by finishing third at the New Balance Indoor Nationals with a remarkable 7:47.07 performance.
