Liverpool Opens Season Well at Tully Invite
Section 3's Liverpool looked well on a cold and rainy morning, as their girls' team took first and their boys' team took 2nd overall. Zavon Watkins, who will be running the Invitational Mile in a couple of weeks at Penn Relays, saw a bit of competition from his own teammate in the open 400m. Ryheim Lawes went 50.44 to Watkins' 50.41, followed behind by Liverpool's Keewan Rondinello in 53.02. The times hint at a strong outing in the 4x400 later in the season.

For the girls, it was Newark Valley's Jenna Cupp to take the 1500m, in a decent 5:08.7 for the rough conditions.

Bartholomew Vaults to the Top at the Binghamton Patriot Invite
NY #5 Indoors for the Pole Vault, the clear skies of Binghamton lead to Alexis Bartholomew's retaking of the top spot on the state leaderboards for outdoors. Clearing 11' is, "only a starting point," Bartholomew said. "Its nice to get this height early on, because it means higher heights are sure to come."

On the boys side of the competition, Maine-Endwell edged out Elmira by 5 points, aided by Endwell's win in the 800 by Corey Wasilnak in 2:03.10.

Ryan christens FM's new track with a NY leading 3200
While it may have only been a dual meet, it was the first time Fayetteville-Manlius was able to try their new track facility for competition. Racing for the first time on a home track that hadn't solidified over the years, junior Nick Ryan of FM managed to clock a 9:43.5 in the 3200 meter run. While unofficial, it stands as the NY leading time.

Expect that time to be conquered this weekend, as warm weather always promises fast times, and this weekend's forecast is in the mid-60's. We'll be back this weekend with full coverage of the rest of the break's activities.
