Ward Melville senior Mary Kate Anselmini broke the national record in the steeplechase Saturday at the Section 11 state qualifier at Port Jefferson High School. The defending national champion clocked 6:33.01, bettering a mark of 6:33.7 set by Suffern's Shelby Greany in 2009.
