When Mitchell Kun won the 3,200 meters he tossed his arms in the air couldn’t bring them down.
“I was in a state of euphoria,” Kun said.
And it was contagious. The roar from his Sheepshead Bay teammates echoed through the arena and from the very first scored event – when Kun won the 3,200 in 9:55.70 – it seemed that he had set the stage for the Sharks to win their first indoor title under coach John Padula.
“Mitchell started everything,” said senior Rolyce Boston, who won the long jump in state-leading 23 feet, 8 inches, the eighth-best mark in the country. “When I saw him surge off the turn I was like, ‘OK, it’s my turn.”
