Penn Relays is always a showcase for some of the best in New York. As usual, teams showed out, putting in Season's best against many States well into their peaking season. Check out the highlights below.
Girls 4x100m
Top Mark: Colonie - 47.76 - 26th overall
Rank: NY-1
2nd Best: New Rochelle - 48.69
Comments: The Indoor State Champs were already ranked top in the State heading into the weekend, but improved upon their mark to put a point on their claim.
Girls 4x400m
Top Mark: New Rochelle - 3:52.12 - 25th overall
Rank: NY-1
2nd Best: Benjamin Banneker - 3:52.42
Comments: The girls of New Rochelle shaved four full seconds off their best from the Indoor State Meet, to set the standard in New York. They also finished one spot ahead of the Indoor State Champs in the merged results.
Girls 4x800m
Top Mark: Spence School - 9:19.20 - 13th overall
Rank: NY-2
2nd Best: Guilderland - 9:19.83
Comments: The current State Leaders opted for the DMR, but Spence School showed up in the prelims. One of the smallest schools by far, they finished one slot outside of qualifying for the final.
Girls DMR
Top Mark: Shenendehowa - 11:48.74 - 3rd overall
Rank: NY-1
2nd Best: Kingston - 12:16.87
Comments: Leading the race through the first two legs of the race, Shen kicked off with a killer 3:33.56 leg from sophomore Riley Lynch. It's their 5th fastest time in school history.
Boys 4x100m
Top Mark: Harry S Truman - 42.15 - 33rd overall
Rank: NY-3
2nd Best: St. Francis Prep - 42.31
Comments: The 4x400m State Leaders opted to stack the 4x100m instead, putting in the best performance of the weekend for a NY squad.
Boys 4x400m
Top Mark: Minisink Valley - 3:18.58 - 16th overall
Rank: NY-2
2nd Best: Saratoga - 3:20.29
Comments: The Indoor State Champions proved their mettle once again, while Saratoga proved their depth by fielding two top relays.
Boys 4x800m
Top Mark: Saratoga - 7:51.84 - 13th overall
Rank: NY-1
2nd Best: New Rochelle - 7:53.41
Comments: Split between 4x400m and 4x800m, Saratoga put in a new State Leading time in the trials, finishing just one slot outside of qualifying for the final.
Boys DMR
Top Mark: Kellenberg - 10:05.43 - 10th overall
Rank: NY-1
2nd Best: North Rockland - 10:07.53
Comments: The silver medalists from Nike Indoor Nationals in the 4x800m instead opted for the DMR, and setting a massive School Record. North Rockland sets their own School Record right behind.
