Note: Athletes who have been nominated in the past two weeks are not eligible. Previous winners are excluded for the rest of the season.
This Week's Nominees:
Luke Beattie, Warwick Valley (New York): Won both the pole vault (17-2.25) and 100 meters (10.52) at the Ahearn Classic. Cleared 17-2.25 to take the vault over 9 other competitors, then returned to the track to win the 100 in a field of 62 runners.
Alfie Adams, Hackley School (New York): The top sophomore in New York in the 800, he ran 1:52.62 for third place in a loaded field of 123 at Track Night NYC. Also won the 400 in 50.29 at the Ivy League Prep Schools meet at Icahn Stadium.
Jonathan Szymanski, Chaminade (New York): Put up 59-1 to win the shot put at the 54th Saint Anthony's Invitational in a field of 83 throwers. Also threw 164-1 in the discus for second place among 90 competitors at the same meet.
Mark Lebowitz, Mamaroneck (New York): Clocked 47.79 in the 400 for second place at the Joe Wynne Somers Lions Club Invitational, the top junior in New York in the event.
Liam Sherwood, Collegiate School (New York): Posted 10.62 to win the 100 meters at Track Night NYC, beating 135 other sprinters and ranking as the top junior in the state. Later ran 50.46 for second in the 400 at the Ivy League Prep Schools meet at Icahn Stadium.
