Nothing can gut a relay like graduation and Sheepshead Bay was no different. It seemed like all the speed the Sharks enjoyed graduated with the seniors last year.

 “The whole cross country season I was really having sleepless nights,” Sheepshead Bay coach John Padula said. “Especially after Farley went down. I was trying to talk myself off the ledge.”

Jose Farley, Jr., one of the team’s best sprinters, suffered a partially torn ACL during football season and had surgery in December, further decimated a Sheepshead Bay relay that led the state last year.

Nonetheless, Sheepshead Bay – with Richmond Ahadzi, Devin Lee, Rolyce Boston and Tyroy Lawson – clocked 1:29.10 Saturday while finishing second in the 4x200 relay at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational Saturday. Sheepsh...
