Columbus junior Strymar Livingston and the Medgar Evers girls 4x200 relay have been named this week’s AT&T Armory Athletes of the Week, both setting state records over the weekend.

Livingston broke his second New York State record Saturday at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational when he won the junior boys 600 meters in 1:18.01. Livingston erased a state record of 1:18.70 set by Great Neck South’s Terrence Livingston (no relation) in 2009.

Many thought Livingston broke the national record – Shaquan Brown of Paterson (N.J.) clocked a 1:17.9 hand-time in 200 – but record keeper’s said that the record would stand and Livingston’s time will be recorded as the second-fastest time in United States history.  Two weeks ago, at the New Balance Games, Livingston broke the state record in the 500...
