
Myasia Jacobs of Paramus Catholic (N.J.) and Ronald Darby of Potomac (Md.) have been honored in this season’s third installment of Armory Athletes of the Week, presented by AT &T.
Jacobs and Darby, both juniors, posted historic runs in the 55-meter dash at the Hispanic Games Saturday. Jacobs clocked 6.85 seconds, the fastest time in the nation this season, the 18th fastest in country all-time and the fastest New Jersey performance in 27 years.
It was the first race of the season for Jacobs, 100-meter silver medalist at the Youth Olympics in August.
Darby, who is also a standout football player, crossed the line in 6.28, the fastest 55-meter run, from start line to finish, in the Armory’s history. All other sub-6.30 performances were posted as en route marks in a 60-meter dash.
