There’s never been a PSAL athlete to clear 50 feet in the triple jump indoors. Only two jumpers in the country did it last year and just one in 2009.
At the start of the season, Erasmus Hall coach Scott Herbert handed Shane Green a sheet of paper and told him to write a goal for the
end of the season. Green thought for a second and scribbled down the mark that no other PSAL athlete has achieved before.
“For the end of the season, I put 50,” Green said. “For Loughlin, I put something like 46.”
At this point, Green might as well toss that paper over his shoulder and into the trash. At the Bishop Loughlin Games Dec. 18, the senior posted a then-personal best of 48 feet, 7.25 inches. Then, Dec. 30, at the PSAL Night of Sprints – essentially while the track community had its back...
