WAPPINGERS FALLS – A girl, another athlete, walked up to Cornwall’s Aisling Cuffe after her race. She asked Cuffe if she broke the course record. Cuffe did.
“Can I asked you a question?” the girl followed. “How does it feel to see your name as number one?”
Cuffe is never short of words but stumped for a more insightful response, Cuffe told the simple truth. It made her feel happy, she said. It
was at Bowdoin Park that Cuffe first became similar with that feeling. Cuffe made her name at Bowdoin Park.
Now the Stanford-bound senior can say she conquered it. Cuffe won smashed Bowdoin Park’s course record while winning her second straight New York State Federation championship Saturday. She finished in 17:16.9, crushing a mark of 17:27.3 set by Nicole B...
