When Aisling Cuffe was seven years old she went to her first soccer practice. She wouldn’t leave her mother’s side. So when the time came to run laps her mom had to come along. Cornwall’s Cuffe has always liked to stay close to home and the things she finds most familiar.
But Cornwall’s Cuffe, the top-rated runner in the country this season, has chosen to take her talents to California. The two-time state cross country champ made a verbal commitment to Stanford earlier this week.
“No matter where I go, I’m still going to have practice everyday,” Cuffe said. “I could have plopped down anywhere.”
But Cuffe chose Stanford over Duke and top-ranked Villanova. Cuffe actually decided to forego any other visits after her trip to Stanford, where the women’s team upset Oregon and Ariz...
