The beauty of High School sports is that there is always a new face ready to debut. Seniors graduate, and new athletes come in to take their place. Each week, we take a look at one of the names that are here to stay over the next few years, as they take on the veterans of our Sport.

Only two freshman boys have cracked 170 for their Speed Rating this Season. Only one has taken home an Invitational win.
Desmond Hill (Marcus Whitman) led the field at the Weedsport Invite on Saturday, taking home his first major victory of his burgeoning career. He won by twenty two seconds, over a senior.
It should come as no shock, as Hill was named the top middle school athlete in the State for 2023.
He's had a strong season so far, scoring Top 10 finishes at both his races at McQuaid and Baldwinsville. His Speed Rating best has steadily improved all season long. He now finds himself seeded as the second best athlete in Class D for Section 5, which gives him a good shot to become one of the rare male athletes to attend the State Meet for five consecutive years.
He went last year, competing in Class C, and finished 43rd in his race, the top middle schooler in the field. He dipped under 10mins for the full 2-Mile last Spring, running 9:51, while pairing that with a 4:35 mile. It bodes well for his future.
