New York Boys State Rankings - Week 1

Following Week of Saturday, September 23

It's been unseasonably good weather these past two weeks, and the first competitions of September have provided plenty of clarity in the first fresh rankings of the Season. Many of the top teams got their taste of the State Meet at Queensbury, while the smaller schools stayed more local to develop their talent. The usual stalwarts of Sunken Meadow and Bear Mountain saw their first dip into competition, before bigger Invites to be hosted to come soon.

Ward Melville was the big surprise out of the Pre-State Invitational, but the best team performance came from outside Section 2. Ithaca stayed within Section for one more week before heading up to Baldwinsville, and their combo of talent and depth outlasted the rest of the State. There are still more pieces to be put in place, but the lineup for the State Meet is starting to take shape. Only a handful of teams have yet to meaningly open, and the parity level across New York is unmatched.

Teams are listed with the average speed ratings numbers supplied by Tully Runners, and the number in parentheses shows difference between the 1-5 runners, each point equaling 3 seconds on a 5K course, and smaller compression numbers are generally better.
