2024 Ocean Breeze Freedom Games Meet Info & Preview

The 2024 Ocean Breeze Freedom Games take place over two days, Saturday, January 6 & Sunday, January 7. The girls section of the meet is slated for Saturday while the boys section of the meet closes out the two-day meet on Sunday. The 2024 Ocean Breeze Freedom Games marks the 8th installment of the event, the second in the 2023-24 Ocean Breeze "Big 4" Meets. During the 2023 Ocean Breeze Freedom Games, several top-ten times in the US were set & two new meet records were also set.

What to Watch For Day One:

  • 55m - Leilani Wilson (Abraham Lincoln) enters the 55m dash as the top-seeded entrant at 7.65. During the 2023 Freedom Games, Wilson competed in the blue division while running an 8.85. This year, she looks to take home the medal in the varsity section of the 55 meter dash.
  • 300m - Baldwin teammates Sariah Doresca & Breanne Barnett battle it out in the 300m seeded at 40.33 & 40.83m respectively.
  • 4x800 - Guilderland looks to improve on their US #7 time in the 3200 meter relay while Deer Park looks to improve on their third place finish in 2023.
  • 1600m: Mae Dowling (Columbia HS) looks improve on her top-12 NJ time in the 1600m with Nikita Lachke (Charter School of Wilmington) seeded right behind her in this New Jersey vs. Delaware matchup!
  • Long Jump & Triple Jump: Raegan Bossard (Caldwell HS) looks to double in both events. Bossard is currently ranked NJ # 3 in the triple jump.
  • Shot Put: Madison Stevens (Columbia HS) is currently ranked in the top-20 in the US in the shot put. Stevens, the New Jersey native, is committed to Rutgers University.
  • 4x200: Baldwin & Abraham Lincoln HS battle it out in the 800 meter relay to see who can take the win for the Empire State!
  • High Jump: Gianna Green (Columbia HS) is ranked top-ten in New Jersey in the high jump, setting her PR of 5-2 last week.
What to Watch For Day Two:
  • 3200m: Jack Moretta (Bishop Hendricken HS) & Nathan Lee (Brunswick School) both look to enter the US top-five rankings as they are both seeded at 9:20.00. Will Moretta, the Rhode Island native, or Lee, the Connecticut native, take home the medal in the 3200m.
  • 55m: Carson Eddy (Archbishop Curley HS) has improved his 55m time with each meet this season. Eddy looks to continue to shave seconds off his PR as he attempts to win the 55m dash on Sunday. Eddy is also looking to double as he is competing in the 300m as well
  • 1600m: After finishing 16th in the 1600m at the 2023 Freedom Games, can Will Olsen (Bishop Hendricken) claim victory in his senior season & take home the gold meal at the 2024 Freedom Games?!
  • 1000m: Ollie Ide (Bishop Hendricken) is the favorite to win the 1000m after finishing 13th in the event one year ago. Can Idle join his teammate Will Olsen in moving up the finalists & claim gold for Bishop Hendricken.
  • High Jump: Xavier McGreal (Kennett) looks to break the meet record of 6-6 & take home the gold in the event after finishing in second-place with a jump of 6-2 in 2023.
  • Weight Throw - Redemption seems to be the theme of the 2024 Ocean Breeze Freedom Games! Goll finished 10th in the weight throw in 2023 & looks to take home the gold in the weight throw as the top-seeded entrant in 2024!
