New York Boys State Rankings - Week 1

Following Week of Saturday, September 23

Despite the threat of rain, and residual tropical storms, the first few weeks of September have provided plenty of clarity in the first fresh rankings of the Season. Most of the top teams got their taste of the State Meet at the VVS Pre-State Invitational, while the smaller schools stayed more local to develop their talent. This past weekend, Queensbury played host to much of Section 2, while East Aurora pulled the rest of the State westward.

There has been some major changes since the Pre-Season ratings, kinds of moves we don't typically see on the Boys' side of competition. We knew there would be some new names popping up here and there, but it would seem the Top 4 teams in the State right now, have never made an NXN final, with some other new names ready to debut this weekend.

This coming week will see the McQuaid Invitational, long being the proving ground for teams up and down the classifications. St. Anthony's Invite will run at Sunken Meadow, while Section 1 heads to Milton for the Pearl River Invite. We expect all teams to have run their A-squads by this weekend, lining up their best as they head into October.

Teams are listed with the average speed ratings numbers supplied by Tully Runners, and the number in parentheses shows difference between the 1-5 runners, each point equaling 3 seconds on a 5K course, and smaller compression numbers are generally better.
